Serial ASCII to Allen-Bradley PLC Gateway
The easiest way to move data between a serial ASCII device and Allen-Bradley PLC. The 435NBX gateway allows you to move serial ASCII data from a barcode scanner, weigh scale, RFID reader or other device to a ControlLogix, CompactLogix, FlexLogix, MicroLogix, SLC 5/05 or PLC-5E PLC, as well as legacy applications using a NetENI module.

Move Serial ASCII Data Directly to Your Allen-Bradley PLC Data Table

The 435NBX moves data between serial ASCII devices (RS-232 or RS-485) and an Allen-Bradley PLC over EtherNet/IP. As a result, you can integrate your perfectly good barcode readers, RFID devices, scales and other legacy ASCII hardware into modern, Ethernet-based control networks without writing custom logic or downloading software.
How Does the 435NBX Gateway Move ASCII Data In and Out of the PLC?
In your Allen-Bradley PLC, you define a tag or register location to which ASCII data will be written. Using the 435NBX’s simple browser-based configuration, you define the makeup of your ASCII string and then watch it get delivered directly to your user-defined tag or register location in the data table of your PLC.Need to send ASCII data from the PLC to a display, printer or other serial device? Simply populate a second tag or register location with the message you wish to send. Using a length-based handshake, the 435NBX will process and send data out to the display device when it sees a length greater than 0.
It’s really that simple. One in tag/register and one out tag/register. No message instruction or IO tree to deal with. Just move your ASCII data in and out of your Allen-Bradley PLC.

What our Customers are Saying
“I challenged a customer to get it working by the time I got back from his break room with a Coke and he indeed had it working when I got back. He then said, "It’s worth twice the price!"”
Eric P. / Kendall Electric
“Everything seems to be working as we imagined. Thanks for the great response time. I did not see any way to save the configuration other than screen shots, but the configuration did not get lost in the update. Thanks again, and you were a pleasure to work with.”
