ASCII to Allen-Bradley PLC

The fastest and simplest way to move ASCII serial barcode, weigh scale, and RFID data to Allen-Bradley PLCs

ASCII to Allen-Bradley PLC Conversion

Move Your ASCII Data

You’ve just found the easiest way to move ASCII serial data to and from a MicroLogix®, ControlLogix, CompactLogix, PLC-5® and SLC 5/05 A-B PLC over EtherNet/IP. Through simple browser-based configuration, you define the makeup of your ASCII string and then watch it get delivered directly to your user-defined tag or register location in the data table of your PLC. Perfect for barcode scanners, weigh scales and displays.

Need to send ASCII data from the PLC? Simply populate a second tag or register location with the message you wish to send. When the gateway sees a length greater than 0, it will process the data and send it out to the serial device.

One in tag/register and one out tag/register, it’s really that simple. No message instruction or IO tree to deal with.

Legacy Device Support

Even though Ethernet is the standard, there is still an awful lot of ASCII data out there. There are a ton of perfectly good scales, barcode readers, RFID devices and a multitude of other units that generate an ASCII string. This is equipment that you’ve used for a long time. You know how to set it up, how to make it work and that it’s reliable for you. Plus, you can probably get it at a really good price since it doesn’t have all the fancy features of the new models.

Simpler Is Better

Why wrestle with hours of programming and tedious ladder logic to integrate a simple gateway? Why deal with 50 additional features you don’t need on a product? Or pan through hundreds of pages of a manual just to get your unit configured? With our ASCII to A-B PLC gateway, you don’t have to deal with any of those things. You can easily have our unit up and running in less than five minutes.

What our Customers are Saying

“I challenged a customer to get it working by the time I got back from his break room with a Coke and he indeed had it working when I got back. He then said, "It’s worth twice the price!"”

Eric P. / Kendall Electric

“Everything seems to be working as we imagined. Thanks for the great response time. I did not see any way to save the configuration other than screen shots, but the configuration did not get lost in the update. Thanks again, and you were a pleasure to work with.”
