The 460ETCBS moves BACnet data between and up to 5 Allen-Bradley PLCs over an Ethernet connection. As a result, you can easily bridge the gap between your BACnet/IP-enabled BAS or controllers and your industrial automation network.
How Does the 460ETCBS Gateway Move BACnet Data In and Out of the PLC?
To transfer data between a BACnet/IP controller and up to 5 Allen-Bradley PLCs, the PLCs must allocate memory space to receive and transmit data:
- In newer PLCs, the memory space can consist of an individual tag, a tag array or a User Defined Tag (UDT) structure.
- In legacy PLCs, the memory space consists of two sets of register blocks.
The 460ETCBS stores data received from a BACnet/IP controller in the area designated to receive data. It gets data to transmit to a BACnet/IP controller from the area designated to transmit data.
Because BACnet/IP controllers exchange data via objects, the 460ETCBS supports the Analog Input, Analog Output and Binary Input and Binary Output objects. It maps these objects directly into your designated PLC memory areas. It’s really that simple.
Need to modify your data as it passes from one protocol to the other? No problem. Each data mapping you apply can be modified with up to three mathematical functions. This allows you to manipulate values within the gateway itself before data reaches its destination.
