The 460TCPSC moves data between up to 10 Ethernet-enabled ASCII devices and a Siemens S7 PLC over the S7 protocol. As a result, you can integrate your perfectly good TCP/IP barcode readers, RFID devices, scales and other ASCII hardware communicating via TCP/IP sockets into your existing Ethernet-based Siemens control networks without writing custom logic or downloading software.
How Does the 460TCPSC ASCII to Siemens S7 Protocol Gateway Move Data In and Out of the PLC?
In your Siemens S7 PLC, you define the address to which ASCII data will be written. Using a simple browser-based configuration that replaces complex TCP/IP socket programming, you define the makeup of your ASCII string and then watch it get delivered directly to your user-defined address of your PLC.
Need to send ASCII data from the S7 PLC to a display, printer or other networked Ethernet device? Simply populate a second data area with the message you wish to send. The 460TCPSC will process and send data out to the display device when it sees a change of value.
If your ASCII device uses delimiters, the 460TCPSC can be configured to automatically remove them. If you need to parse your data, the 460TCPSC can parse a string of ASCII data in up to 50 segments by delimiter or offset.
