A Modbus to BACnet protocol gateway converts two completely different industrial protocols: Modbus (RTU or TCP) and BACnet (MS/TP or IP). Sitting between your Modbus and BACnet networks, it translates Modbus registers (inputs, coils, holding registers) into BACnet objects (Analog, Binary or Multi-state) and vice versa without the need for complex logic or proprietary software downloads.

While the way data is transmitted is completely different, the protocol converter ensures that the raw data values remain the same, allowing automation data to flow seamlessly across your control network.

How Modbus to BACnet Data Translation Works

A Modbus to BACnet protocol gateway automatically handles data mapping and protocol conversion for you.

Continuous Data Polling: The protocol gateway continuously polls the Modbus registers or BACnet objects on one side according to your configured rules, saving a real-time copy of the data in its internal memory.
Instant Data Retrieval: When a device on the opposing network requests data, the protocol gateway immediately responds with the locally cached data.
Bidirectional Communication: The protocol gateway manages bidirectional communication, allowing either network to act as the sender or receiver and delivering the payload to the target device on the opposing network.
