Connect Your Modbus TCP Devices to Your Modern Building Management System

The 460MCBS moves automation data between up to 32 Modbus TCP server devices and a BACnet/IP building automation system (BAS) or supervisory controller. It serves as an ideal solution for integrating low-cost Modbus field devices (e.g., power meters, boilers, chillers, etc.) into your BACnet/IP building automation network without writing custom logic or downloading software.
How Does the 460MCBS Protocol Gateway Move Data in My Application?
For most applications, the data mapping is very straight forward:
- Modbus register data is mapped to BACnet Analog Inputs (AI) and Analog outputs (AO)
- Modbus coil data is mapped to BACnet Binary Inputs (BI) and Binary Outputs (BO)
The only additional piece of information required for BACnet is adding metadata, which is nothing more than an ASCII description of each object. No other deep understanding of either protocol is required to configure the gateway. It really is that simple.
Need to modify your data as it passes from one protocol to the other? No problem. Each data mapping you apply can be modified with up to three mathematical functions. This allows you to manipulate values within the gateway itself before data reaches its destination.
Not exactly what you were looking for? Real Time Automation offers a full line of Modbus TCP protocol gateways and BACnet/IP protocol gateways.
Simplify Device Connectivity with Modbus Device Templates
Configuring your RTA Modbus TCP Servers to BACnet/IP Servers protocol gateway is as easy as loading a file!
Real Time Automation provides over 400 pre-defined Modbus device profiles from over 70 vendors. All you need to do is assign the IP and serial network settings, upload the template file and the gateway automatically populates the entire Modbus data point list and sets up the corresponding BACnet points. It’s that easy!
- No manual entry of Modbus registers or data mapping to BACnet objects
- Customizable tag names to fit your existing naming conventions
Why Trust Real Time Automation As Your Protocol Partner?

What our Customers are Saying
“I challenged a customer to get it working by the time I got back from his break room with a Coke and he indeed had it working when I got back. He then said, "It’s worth twice the price!"”
Eric P. / Kendall Electric
“Everything seems to be working as we imagined. Thanks for the great response time. I did not see any way to save the configuration other than screen shots, but the configuration did not get lost in the update. Thanks again, and you were a pleasure to work with.”
Kevin L. / Extol, Inc.
