Why AS-Interface?

What’s hot? DeviceNet? Profibus? Ethernet something or other? Nope, none of those. AS-Interface, of all things, is booming. Why? There’s a bunch of reasons:
1. It’s Fast. 5msec Cycle Times.
2. It’s Simple. Simple devices with low I/O counts. 248 Total Points.
3. Combines Power and Network in 2 wires!
4. You can use any sort of topology; star, branch, line, tree
5. Flat cabling with insulation displacement wiring so you can add devices anywhere you want.
